Mercury starts in Leo for only two days, but they are oh, so potent! The 3 part Mercury Retrograde cycle starts at 28 Leo and Mercury turns Direct/forward at 28 Leo. It is the root degree and sign of the Retrograde! The contemplation all starts with Leo, the sign of the Heart! Gold is its color! Heroes and athletes are favored. It is Self aware and creative from that central spark of the Light of the Sun! The Lion is with fixed star Regulus the King, why not Queens too?! Regulus was at 29 Leo, but now is early 0 degree Virgo, the Maiden, Healing Priestess! Virgo is the sign of organization and service, and the royals must now make their contribution in high style, truly serve the People! I think of Justin Trudeau whose Ascendant is 3 Virgo. Regulus is one of the four Persian Royal Stars, the Watcher of the South, Summer Solstice, Archangel Raphael, Doctor of Medicine.

Mercury moves along into Virgo, but returns to Leo for a 10 day station (standstill as it turns direction forward), Aug 31 to Sep 9. Mercury is the planet of magical synapses, within oneself and with others! Words get around and we see their many faces. We think, we speak to our core intelligence, the who we are. In Leo there is the search for authenticity, being in the heart, radiant with natural Light. It’s a creative posture, alive with brilliant potential. It calls for a purity of Being that gives the strength from being true. Mercury handshakes its way with a smile that moves the Soul! It passes it on. Irresistible! At the last two degrees of Leo it is mature and sure. Leo being a fixed sign; once it has found its way, it is the Light on the Path, steady and with a remarkable Will to succeed.

Mercury in Virgo, one of its own signs, is clever and succinct, lines up connections so those synapses can fire more frequently. It aligns DNA-like rows of synapses that exchange energy as they travel. It keeps energy points clean so there is clear, quick and accurate exchange. Properly lined up and in peak condition, they can self create and continue. They are strong, flexible. Make turns, reverses to review. Though it is tempting to do beauty and body work, make clothing choices, it is so close to Mercury Rx, there is a good chance you won’t want the same things very soon. Be sure to get warranties, receipts for refunds. Quickly design your business card and logo. See if it withstands Mercury Rx before you print. Rather than remodel, design on paper and wait. Further options are quite likely to come along! Bookkeeping and services, health matters, getting some rest, streamlining your life, landlord/tenanting may require your attention. Wait until about 5 days after Mercury turns forward/direct to make changes, get engaged. Mercury turns forward Sept 5.

The Aug 12 Retrograde is at 11 Virgo 38, square the fixed star Antares in the constellation Scorpio! Squares mean challenges most any day, but to Antares it may not be an easy challenge. Since Mercury direction changes also mean being in Station, an 8 day period, the energy will be held a good 8 days. Since Antares is at 9 Sagittarius 46+, we’ll extend that time to 5 days before the 12th, 5 days following. Antares is another of the four Persian Royal Stars, the Watcher of the West, autumnal equinox, Archangel Uriel/Oriel, Fire of God. Rob Tillett sums up Antares saying: Spirit of adventure, obstinacy, injuries to eyes, honours, sudden loss, stubborn, suspicious, violent, several marriages. A super simplified interpretation by me would be Virgo wants to work, Sagittarius wants to play and doesn’t show up on time. That’s not a disaster, but you might lose your job and that could become a challenge! If you’re going surfing during work time, take the boss with you!

The Retrograde cycle starts with the Star of the South, Regulus, and ends in connection with the Star of the West, Antares.

Retrograde in Leo, Mercury may change his mind about his opinion about himself. And that’s likely to flip or shift again as there are further developments while Mercury is in station – appears to be standing still in the sky Sep 1 to 8 – then moves forward again and finishes Leo, for the year, Sep 9. The choices of self presentation, personal style – words, posture, looks, colors, lighting – will definitely change. Educational matters, seminar schedules, advertising text, romantic concerns, will change, adjust, maybe improve with adjustments. Consider, research, but wait. Redesign, check fit, availability, but wait. If it passes Virgo specs during the first week Mercury is back in Virgo, go for it! To be on the safe side, get changes clients make approved with signatures and dates, keep receipts, get warranties.

During the Leo station, Mercury Rx conjuncts Mars at 28 Leo 43 on Sep 3. Sep 5 Mercury turns Direct, as Mars moves forward into Virgo. Traveling closely together it takes until Sep 16 for Mercury to make its catchup second conjunction at 7 Virgo 13! In Leo, Mercury interviews the champion, announces a winner, names the leader! He announces the new creation, the exciting new curriculum! Mercury in Virgo puts the energy into action, organizing efforts to achieve the project  A garden may be started, a new health regime makes the news, study efforts back at school are swiftly dispatched. New hires, private contractors, are welcomed gratefully.

The FIVE part Lunar Sequence!

1. The July 23 New Moon Is the day before the Mercury Rx cycle starts! It will help you see what’s at the bottom of things, the new beginning you would like to aim for. Moon conjunct Sun is a mighty union especially when the Sun is in his own sign Leo! It’s time to stand tall and have the pride of your own sweet Spirit!
2. Before the August 7 Full Green Corn Moon Lunar Eclipse, Mercury is close to opposite Neptune in Pisces! Virgo is one of Mercury’s own signs, and Neptune rules the opposite sign Pisces and is in Pisces! It’s almost like a double opposition! Mercury is intrigued by things out of its usual scope, a higher order perhaps. It can be used as a universal model. Things flow, health improves, you arrive at a vantage point of synchronicity that surprises you by its infinitely more favorable links. Logic and intuition work well together. They stay close but with Mercury slowing to retrograde, they don’t become exact, but considerations are stirred. They are within three degrees 10 days, from August 7 to 17. 3. Second Leo New Moon, US TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE is at 28 Leo 53! This is the degree the entire Mercury Rx cycle started at and Mercury goes Direct at!! The Eclipse is during Mercury Rx, Mercury at 8 degrees Virgo during the Eclipse! He trines Dark Moon Lilith at 9 Capricorn. Laser logic and bold feminine success. Tending and building. Cool mind, clear focused passionate power! Use the Eclipse message as your Guide.
4. The Sep 6 Pisces/Virgo Full Corn Moon is not linked to degrees in the Mercury Rx cycle, but is linked in time, happening the day after Mercury goes Direct, forward! Mercury is in station, appearing to stand still in the sky, at that time. Mercury holds the degree for 8 days, 4 before and 4 after the direction turn. There is a deep intake, a focus, mulling it over, a strengthening, an anchoring is possible. Take care what you hold in your thoughts in these 8 day periods. This time we look at the span of Pisces to Virgo. The Moon is conjunct Neptune in Pisces, his own sign! There are psychic memories of our past life deaths and births, misunderstandings and meanings, denials and dreams. It’s a lot to take in, but the Virgo Sun opposite, uses common sense, and reorders our thinking so we can use the information in a good way to help and heal in current time. Mars newly at 0 Virgo, conjunct fixed star Regulus (see more), wants to move things right along, see to the finer points of things, and may get the job done in record time!
5. The Sep 19 Virgo New Moon is at 27 Virgo, while Mercury is finishing his cycle at 11 Virgo on the same day! As the Moon cycle finishes and begins anew, Mercury is finishing the Retrograde loop and stepping into new territory! Each has the past as its foundation to move on from. Note your successes, and what needs a bit more work. Give yourself credit. Virgo rules work we perform, services. bookkeeping and budgeting. Health and healing, taking care of pets. Choices based on critical and practical thinking are necessary to accomplish our goals. Again, the degrees are not linked, but the timing is. More wise and experienced, together we celebrate and embark on the next part of our journey!

When Mercury is in Leo, those of you with chart factors in 26 to 29 degrees of fixed signs, Leo/Aquarius, Taurus/Scorpio, will feel the challenge. Those with factors in those same degrees of Fire signs Aries and Sagittarius, will more likely be excited by the changes!

The majority of the Retrograde is 0 to 11 degrees Virgo. Those of you with chart factors in mutable signs, Virgo/Pisces, Gemini/Sagittarius, will be challenged when Mercury is in Virgo. The Earth signs, Taurus and Capricorn will likely find it a smoother ride.

May 17, WESAK, Full Moon Taurus/Scorpio 4:09AM Pacific

This is the Full Moon of the Buddha celebrated worldwide.  The Buddha is thought to actually come to Earth in a Himalayan valley. Sitting as the Buddha, being grounded and centered, feeling completely aware of everything/nothing, having gentle compassionate wisdom, total peace, are what we seek. With two outer planets, Jupiter and Uranus, still in Aries, it might be more like Thich Nhat Hanh’s walking meditation, riding your bike long distance in the Zen of the flow.  But at the time of the Full Moon, there are FOUR planets in early Taurus, a stellium, starting with Venus, Taurus’s own planet, Mercury, then Mars, all three closely together in conjunction.  The Sun is last, at the end of Taurus.  Mars, Venus and Mercury are the planets associated with the first three signs of the zodiac, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, as if in summary of the three sacred festivals of the first three Full Moons of the year, Aries The Christ – Love, Taurus The Buddha – Wisdom, Gemini Humanity – The Word! 

Taurus sits on the rock, walks in focused prayer and silence stopping to listen, touch the trees, tip and sniff the flower now and then.  It is one with Nature, loves the touch of all its textures.  Barefoot on soil presses minute particle to particle, draining away hysterical fear, replacing it with a neutrality from the soil that allows you to be free to see simplicity.  A Tao Te Ching phrase that has been with me a long time is ‘Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear? Till right action arises by itself?’ 

Scorpio Moon?  Taurus is mine.  Scorpio is ours.  Sharing.  Mutual funds.  A gathering of resources from the deepest realms.  The Native American Underworld where power is sought, faced alone, Spirit your only Ally, imbued with a Sacred Trust.  The Greco/Roman mythological underworld of Hades.  Christian celibacy; tantric sexual intimacy, a merging beyond words.  The Pagan life sustaining storing of goods for winter sharing, a living reservoir of human connection.   

Goddess Mother Moon, GrandMother Moon, lights these ‘dark’ places as fully as She can, with her Night Light, a gentle, more bearable Light, than the Light of Day.  This is a time to look upon the silver strands that connect us, absorb their meaning.  What binds us?  Money, Love, genetics, nothing we can explain?  Is it time to step across the barriers, cross the threshold to the next level?  To return to our prime mission?  To let go and keep walking?

Walk it, share as you can.  I will be being mindful the evening previous the Full Moon, and the 17th, in planetary prayer.  The Sun and Jupiter will be in the degree of the Galactic Center.  Join me in Spirit if you wish.  By your grace.

Happy Spring Equinox, St Pat’s Promise!

Lighting the Way

SPRING EQUINOX  takes on new meaning this year, worldwide. It’s not just a romp in the St Pat’s clover, but that special equinoctial sunrise that occurs no matter what, promising more Light.  And it comes, no matter how dark the dawn. For many of us it will be a lot more thoughtful. What’s really important. Economically it hasn’t been easy, now this with the Sendai, Japan Quake, people having it harder than just economic troubles – no job, no home, loss of loved ones, literally freezing cold, gone nuclear for real, no hairbrush.  A whole nother perspective.

So, BE the Light, be the beacon. Let people know you’ve got something, that they can ‘follow’ the good stuff you’ve got. To have it and not lead it is an error of omission. Put your feet to the fire and learn how to lead. You will learn quickly. It comes naturally when you offer what you love. People will be ever so grateful.

SEE the Light in others, that sparks when they Light uP!  Ask them to share with you. Learn how to learn. Education and learning are forms of Light. If you really want to get fancy, it’s EnLightenment – not just that the Lights go on, but how you learn, that you share, have the desire!  EnLightenment is not just an end result, but the entire Path!

As you walk our beloved Earth, be mindful of your every breath, HER every breath. Look for that SUNRISE in every moment.

PART 2, Your 2011 Astrology Highlights! 

Retrogrades, Chiron’s New Pattern, Six Eclipses, Occultations, Planetary Extremes, Super Moons, Moon Void of Course, Chinese Year of the Rabbit!

Some of these you will definitely want to mark on your calendar, be aware of, plan ahead for! So, with your appointment book/calendar in hand….

Retrogrades Few  The usual outer planet retrogrades, no Mars or Venus retrogrades, Mercury 3 times as usual – Mar 30 to April 23 in Aries, Aug 2 to 26 in Leo/Virgo, and Nov 23 to Dec 13 in Sagittarius.

Chiron’s new pattern, retrograde degrees start overlapping each other. That means sometimes a planet in your chart may be activated 5 times rather than only the 3 times as in the past. The only other planets that do this are Pluto and Neptune. So their activations can, at times, be dense, and intense, repetitive, taking 3 years – the year before they are exact and the 2 years they are exact. If they activate planets in very close degrees, more than one planet at a time, in your chart, it can be intense indeed, complicated, at those times. If they activate a string of planets in your chart one after another, issues can cascade, one to the next, for years and years. You live through things longer than you would ever have thought possible. These are those lawsuits that go on and on, health matters that frazzle your Spirit, children that don’t get over things and have trouble growing up, couples that fight for years never-ending. If you are in such a sequence, get support, see your part in things, get informed, take especially good care of yourself. Call me for a reading, I’ll check for you.

SIX Eclipses in a year happens every 4.5 years or so, and we have a Unique Dark Moon!  Four of the six 2011 eclipses are Metonic returns of the eclipses of 1992, repeating on the same dates and degrees. The other two repeat the date and degrees of the New Moons! While many eclipses repeat at 19-year intervals, some do not. Eclipse Frequency

July Two New Moons, July 1 & July 30! Call the second New Moon of July what you will! Dark Moon, Black Moon, Secret Moon, Spinner’s Moon, Finder’s Moon. The second one of the month is considered especially potent for magical practice.

Occultations are Eclipses, just not Moon/Sun Combos! They occur when planets are lined up both horizontally and vertically, exactly in conjunction in the line of sight! Some years they happen again and again, often to the same planet. 2011 there are only 3, all formed by the Moon to different planets – 6.30 Venus, 7.27 Mars, 10.27 Mercury.

Moon Void of Course April 4 to Aug 4, as Neptune enters Pisces, no outer planets, that’s Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Chiron, Saturn, and Jupiter, will be in late degrees, all are in new signs! That means the Moon will often have long Void of Course times when no planets are in late degrees of any of the signs. From the time a planet makes its last major aspect, a conjunction, sextile, square, trine or opposition, until it enters a new sign, is the time it is Void of Course, VC. The general interpretation is nothing will come of anything started during VC time. You go shopping for an item that is regular stock, and they are out of it that day! Sometimes it’s a good thing nothing comes of your effort, better left unsaid, so to speak, or, oops, thank God you didn’t do that! But not a preferred time for the interview for the job you really want. Yet, another interpretation is there is nothing to stop the matter, it’s a done deal. If the Moon’s last aspect was classically favorable, I would lean toward declaring a positive outcome for action taken. Generally, I would postpone if possible.

Scorpios for 2012, Venus Retrograde!

Nov 19, 1961, Meg Ryan, actress & producer, has 2 children, one adopted from China, a daughter named Daisy True. Meg has Venus, Neptune, Mercury and Sun in Scorpio! Like a pixie Ninja guardian, Meg has been an active supporter of environmental protection programs.

Oct 23 Scorpio starts this year with 4 planets in Scorpio, the day after a Full Moon.  Sun, Mercury and Venus are together sextile Pluto Scorpio’s ruler, opposite the Moon in Taurus.  Mars is at 26 (the same degree as the Galactic Center) Scorpio squaring Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius, trining Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces!  Venus is still retrograde (see below please) until Nov 18.

Give or keep?  Share or dare?!  How to make more money, keep it safe, use it where it counts.  Venus still being retrograde means check things out further, shy away from ‘final’ decisions, especially in love and health matters.  Literally lots to think about, valuable information, but it won’t be the end of the story.  Angry misunderstandings may have a high price, with a need to reform on both sides.  Well educated friends, travelers or foreigners, out-of-the-box coaches, planners, may save the day with unique solutions!  Kindness, letting go of in-your-face eccentricities, surrender but not selling out, will be key.

(¸.·´ (¸.·´ *    Our VENUS retrograde of 41 days finishes Nov 18 when she turns Direct.  One of the most beautiful principles of retrogrades is the ability to, the divine opportunity of, going back, again and again, not giving up, returning.  This is so profoundly evidenced by the Chilean mine collapse and rescue of the miners.  Obviously, it isn’t always such sweet success, but in this case it was! 

Venus is love, and in Scorpio, the intense power of sharing and resurrection!  Worldwide lessons, how to do rescues better and better, collaborating, coordinating resources, the cross use of NASA space with Scorpio underworld mine techniques, are all perfect metaphors for what each of us must do for ourselves, and one to another, heart to heart, across the table, neighbor to neighbor, worker to worker, at Church, with strangers on our vacations.

Scorpio, Safe Passage to 2012 

The Chilean miners were brought from dark to light, graphically illustrating this balance of night and day, that we so need, that Libra, the sign of going into the darker time of year, Fall Equinox, makes us more aware of.  The darkening time, more dark in Scorpio, is a vital part of our consciousness, where we clear our motivations, our past debris, what’s dead is jettisoned!  It is a place to knock on the doors of what is dormant, that lies well, but deeply within us, waiting.  Sure, there be the monsters of our child mind, but we can hold their hands if we ‘know’ them.  There are also seedlings, hidden healings, needing just a bit of TLC, fertilizing, to help them germinate.  Then, it is ‘Pop!’ just like the men from the mine, into the Light!

Sometimes the good in us has been hidden so long, we don’t know how to release it and use it.  Rather than clever sarcasm and subtle put downs that keep people safely at arm’s length, at first just stop yourself.  That can be so uncomfortable.  What could you do instead?  Look for one good thing you could say and see if you can own it.  What about it makes you uncomfortable?  What are you afraid might happen to you if you embraced that?  Would you be powerless?  Probably not.  But you didn’t even realize that!  Just an old habit.

Learning how to live in our own dark is a vital task.  When it is an emergency, when there are hard times, fears, the challenge is on!  Scorpio is no quitter, enjoys intense.  Whether it is sexual, financial, or psychological, Scorpio is not afraid to wade into the muck and clean up the mess.  Call them, the therapist, financial consultant, the specialist, no need to be alone.  We can always learn more.  Scorpio is the sign of quintessential sharing when life itself is at stake.  They midwife our babies; they help with the dying, and at death.  At these points there is no such thing as shame or blame, we are just in it together, doing life big.  If confidences need to be kept, Scorpios do.

So to live safely in your dark part, know yourself.  Clean up your Inner Self, your attitudes, your Spirit.  Share what you have to give; gather specific efficient guides and friends when you need them.  Know how to be safe with yourself.  Get ready for the Light!
