Magical Saturn photo by Hubble space telescope!

Beautiful Saturn is dancing the tightrope at 29 degrees Libra all during Aquarius, still in the same or within one degree trine with Neptune in Aquarius, then in out of sign trine when Neptune enters Pisces!  Though it is VERY close, it never makes the exact aspect because Saturn is slowing to retrograde Feb 7, and Neptune goes on into Pisces Feb 3, leaving Saturn behind.  The exact trine won’t be made until Saturn enters Scorpio in October.

The 29th degree is considered a degree of maturity, finishing, the end, celebration!  It sets the limit, finalizes, makes the foundation for accomplishments in the following sign, in this case, Libra for Scorpio.  Saturn is necessities, work/career, Father, boundaries, Time, priorities, stone, high mountains!  Libra and Scorpio are both signs of relationship – Libra is fair balance, marriage, partnerships of all kinds.  Scorpio is intimacy, sharing of wealths, contributions, corporations.  Relationships need to be well established, respectful, in Libra, before the deeper delvings in Scorpio that require utmost trust.  At this time, Saturn gives Scorpio a good sniff, but stays in Libra (retrogrades), to take care of unfinished business, to further balance responsibilities to each other, oneself, to further consider how to negotiate respectfully, putting yourself in the other person’s place, to realize your part in things.  Saturn shows us how some things are the way they are, don’t waste time trying to change what will not change now, intelligently wait.  And it shows us how to be thankful for small changes that can multiply when kindly and steadily attended.

While Saturn is harmoniously trine Neptune still in Aquarius, additionally, friends, professional associations, community service organizations, are being assessed.  It considers individual contribution, and the contribution to the whole.  It assesses who to work with, for how much, how long, doing what.  If change is in the offing, how to do it, to let go of fears, accept what must be left behind to step to the next level, pay attention to reputable referrals, get a toehold in a new arena.  Do it honor.  Make a mature, secure, and worthy foundation for important things to come.  Neptune is the inspiring dream; Saturn is real, works the connections, gets the job done.

Scorpio – Fires Within

Wednesday Oct 26 | 12.56 PM Pacific | Super New Moon | 3 Degrees Scorpio   This is the 5th of 2011’s 6 Super Moons.  Super Moons are when the Moon is 90% or greater of its closest approach to Earth.  When it is a full moon, it appears as much as 15% bigger!  They indicate more intensity, higher tides, strong storms if there is one, higher seismic activity.  This is a NEW MOON, and Scorpio is noted for intensity of the deep dark water variety!  Records could be set, relationships could start or crumble, there could be revelations about money sources, resurrection of old alliances, brushes with death, healing through saturation/immersion, miracles!  Time alone may be deeply needed and appreciated, a transfixion of quietness.  This is happening midday, so you may need to get away, take a bit later lunch, to meditate or have a private meeting.  Being a new moon, perhaps it is small beginnings, let things grow in their natural way.  The temptation is to use force, but avoid pushing at it, causing a distortionate break or growth ahead of its time.  Being only two days before the Jupiter trine Pluto puts it in that aspect’s hot zone!  There may be an ebb then a leap!  Read on….

Thursday Oct 27:  Occultations are Eclipses too, not just Moon/Sun Combos! They occur when planets are lined up both horizontally and vertically, exactly in the line of sight! Some years they happen again and again, often to the same planet. 2011 there are only 3, all formed by the Moon to different planets – 6.30 Venus, 7.27 Mars, 10.27 Mercury.  Oct 27’s Moon occultation Mercury is our last of the year.  Moon is emotional, Mercury is logical, and they are making a merger!  Feel what you think, say what you feel, but be really careful because this one is in Scorpio.  You can’t take back what you have said, and it may cut deep.  If a conversation even hints at turning South, let it go, NOW.  There may be an unanticipated price down the road, even revenge.  And it takes a lot of effort to repair, sometimes can’t be repaired.  The other side is someone may tell you something more valuable than you even realize at the time.  You may be healed or given a key piece of information that transforms you, your situation, relationship.  And it may be a blessing in disguise.  There could be an ending that serves you well in the long-term, and actually has been overdue.  Be able to engage, listen big, disengage if needed.  It’s a life skill worth having.  This is especially true this occultation because first Mercury is activated by its direct alignment with the Moon at 22 Scorpio at 7:08 PM, then the Moon passes over Venus at 23 Scorpio at 9:23 PM, just a little over 2 hours later!

First the New Moon quiets us, making us thoughtful in behind-the-scenes observant Scorpio, on the 26th.  Then the Moon, Mercury, Venus combination makes us extra aware of home and family, about love, the 27th.  It opens our capacity to attune, speak our love and affection, to kindly and potently tell what we want, both personally and in business, to see more clearly how we can make the money to support ourselves, loved ones, do things we naturally love.  These are the catalysts and a poignant part of the forming Jupiter trine Pluto, exact the very next day, the 28th, at 9:46 AM Pacific!

Friday Oct 28 Second Jupiter trine Pluto at 5 degrees Taurus and Capricorn.  This and the Jupiter sextile Chiron (the next one will be Dec 6) have been the aspects that have kept the Stock Market up this year.  Jupiter is expansionary, lucky, wise, foresees the directions things will take, is optimistic, will take long odds and win!  It has an extraordinary ability with perspective, watches the big picture, is playful.  Can’t keep a good Sag/Jupiterian down!   Pluto is the planet of wealth and Chiron of business!  Pluto cleans up messes, is expert at rebuilding after losses, recovery from illness, never says die!  When in top order, it is a clean machine!  Deep and internal cleansing, firing people who are not able to make the returns needed, are its forte.  Though at times painful for the recipient, in the long-term, the move is usually the best and reform and transformation happen.  Jupiter wants space; Pluto wants mergers and deep intimacy.  So, if a merger happens, it is probably a better deal than usual.  There has to be a real attraction for Jupiter to see a future in it and accept the transaction.  It will likely be a long-term value.  See more at last month’s pre Jupiter trine Pluto post.

Jupiter is fame, fiery, education, and speed sports; Pluto is death and healing, charisma, power.  The first trine was July 7 – on  July 8 we lost Betty Ford, died at the age of 93. She was known primarily for her work post-whitehouse and for founding one of the most famous rehabilitation facilities (The Betty Ford clinic) in the world. Widow of former president Gerald Ford.  Coming into this second trine, we have lost two.  1) Steve Jobs Oct 5 (4 degree trine): Chairman and Co-Founder of Apple, died due to  complications from pancreatic cancer. He was 56. Jobs was known for his keynote speeches that were given each year to update the loyal Apple followers, as well as his enlightening interview style.  2) Oct 16 (2 degree trine): IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon died after suffering severe injuries in a spectacular 15-car wreck at the Las Vegas Indy 300. He was 33 years old. The two-time Indianapolis 500 winner (including this year’s event) was critically hurt when his car sailed over the top of another during a massive, fiery wreck on Lap 11.  Ironically he had been driving test cars to avoid exactly that.

All of these people made powerful contributions, each in their own way.  May they rest in Peace.  And may we LIVE this aspect well, and carry on its teachings with Grace.

This is the Full Moon of the Buddha celebrated worldwide.  The Buddha is thought to actually come to Earth in a Himalayan valley. Sitting as the Buddha, being grounded and centered, feeling completely aware of everything/nothing, having gentle compassionate wisdom, total peace, are what we seek. With two outer planets, Jupiter and Uranus, still in Aries, it might be more like Thich Nhat Hanh’s walking meditation, riding your bike long distance in the Zen of the flow.  But at the time of the Full Moon, there are FOUR planets in early Taurus, a stellium, starting with Venus, Taurus’s own planet, Mercury, then Mars, all three closely together in conjunction.  The Sun is last, at the end of Taurus.  Mars, Venus and Mercury are the planets associated with the first three signs of the zodiac, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, as if in summary of the three sacred festivals of the first three Full Moons of the year, Aries The Christ – Love, Taurus The Buddha – Wisdom, Gemini Humanity – The Word!

Taurus sits on the rock, walks in focused prayer and silence stopping to listen, touch the trees, tip and sniff the flower now and then.  It is one with Nature, loves the touch of all its textures.  Barefoot on soil presses minute particle to particle, draining away hysterical fear, replacing it with a neutrality from the soil that allows you to be free to see simplicity.  A Tao Te Ching phrase that has been with me a long time is ‘Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear? Till right action arises by itself?’

Scorpio Moon?  Taurus is mine.  Scorpio is ours.  Sharing.  Mutual funds.  A gathering of resources from the deepest realms.  The Native American Underworld where power is sought, faced alone, Spirit your only Ally, imbued with a Sacred Trust.  The Greco/Roman mythological underworld of Hades.  Christian celibacy; tantric sexual intimacy, a merging beyond words.  The Pagan life sustaining storing of goods for winter sharing, a living reservoir of human connection.

Goddess Mother Moon, GrandMother Moon, lights these ‘dark’ places as fully as She can, with her Night Light, a gentle, more bearable Light, than the Light of Day.  This is a time to look upon the silver strands that connect us, absorb their meaning.  What binds us?  Money, Love, genetics, nothing we can explain?  Is it time to step across the barriers, cross the threshold to the next level?  To return to our prime mission?  To let go and keep walking?

Walk it, share as you can.  I will be being mindful the evening previous the Full Moon, and the 17th, in planetary prayer.  The Sun and Jupiter will be in the degree of the Galactic Center.  Join me in Spirit if you wish.  By your grace.

Aries, intrepid riders! Uranus in Aries, you fly!

May 27  It begins.

The Uranus square Pluto.  This aspect is unique because it will happen 7 times, starting in range now, exact for the first time June 23, 2012, finishing Mar 17, 2015, in effect five years! Also on May 27, the Full Moon of Gemini/Sagittarius, called the Full Moon of Humanity (communications), is on the same day Uranus, the planet of Humanity, enters Aries, for the first time in 84 years!  This puts Uranus in not just numerical square, but sign square with Pluto in Capricorn!  Aries is the beginning, the first sign; Capricorn, the 10th sign, symbolically represents the top of the mountain, the authority, the elder, the Patriarch.  Aries is the Initiate; Capricorn the wise Master, the Initiator.  Aries is innovative; Capricorn relies on Archetypes and existing standards.  Aries gets things started, Capricorn is the Builder completes the project.  Aries will jump the lines and fight, while Capricorn barricades the fortress and makes sure there is drinking water!

Uranus and Pluto are, perhaps, strange bedfellows, ruling ‘fixed’ signs not known for their flexibility.  Uranus is noted for genius and insanity, always different than the average cat.  Can be a strict loner, or the totally internet savvy worldwide organizer.  Pluto says, ‘You don’t know who I am,’ master of secrecy, but will confidentially add your money to the corporate pile faster than the blink of an eye, multiplying your contribution to mega sums.  Now if that is in behalf of the community organization you are funding, it works.  If it is stealing, it could be more missing than was known could be stolen!  Pluto is known to be private and behind the scenes; Uranus loves to be social, noticed, with exotic friends.  Pluto is life stakingly serious about intimacy; Uranus can be very cool, dry, bored, or busy but maybe not with you.  Pluto wants to heal what was hidden; Uranus wants awakening – perhaps working together would get the job done!  So Pluto gets connected one way, sharing until death do us part, while Uranus wants to save the world, starting with friendship, by connecting people into groups, groups to groups.  If Pluto can get you to trust, Uranus can give you the cause to give your $ to.  You see how different they are, yet how their purposes can be used together profoundly?  I doubt it will be smooth going, and why should it be?!  How else to create new juice but to brew the cauldron with new bits?
