Happy Birthdays, Capricorns!

You can bet Jan 17, 1964 Capricorn First Lady Michelle Obama is a strong part of Obama’s successful presidency and reelection! She’s an inspiration to all women, children, her People. Uh, it’s said, if you want something done, write to her, not the President!

Michelle is strong, artistic, intelligent, a lawyer by trade! She has a warm Spirit, loves kids and gardens. Her 2012 book American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America is based on her experiences with the garden and promotes healthy eating. Her call for action on healthy eating has been echoed by the United States Department of Defense, which has been facing an ever expanding problem of recruit obesity. She’s an advocate for poverty awareness, strongly supports women’s rights, and military families, helping working women balance career and family, encouraging national service, and promoting the arts and arts education. Fabulous that she gave a keynote address at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and also spoke at the 2012 Democratic National Convention. Did I mention she has great courage?

Capricorn, First Sign into the Next 26,000 Years!

I have great respect for that Capricorns are leading our way, the first sign, into the next 26,000 years! They are third of the three earth signs, a culminating sign of honor, at the top of the natural zodiacal wheel, with ability to achieve maximum potential! As Builders, they work hard with the law and order of science, to make a safe place for us. The recent Newtown CT massacre puts Gun Control right in their sights. As adepts, Magicians, it will take all their skills to bring a working consensus. Emotionalism is not one of their trademarks, yet they will have to deal with frightened people on both sides of the issue.

Facing reality squarely is one of Capricorn’s fortes. From that acknowledgment, the foundation of change is established, further time wasting floundering is over. You can move on exactly from your center. You know your challenge. Information and education is natural next. Informed choices, some trial and error, get it into practice. Setting reasonable boundaries will guard progress until sufficiently established to stand on our own, adjust to changes without falling, or losses due to negative seduction and side trips. Straight ahead.

Timing is one of Capricorn’s great tools. They know how to wait if they have to. Having priorities right between your eyes, however, making potent choices every step of the way, compounds your speed in a good way, gets you there at prime velocity! You just have to get used to all the success! Success is another talent of Capricorn. It’s a new way to live. Doing it well takes some adjusting. Most of us are used to living in the barrel. How to come out into the Light really does take effort and hanging onto yourself so you don’t self-sabotage and go running back. Breathe. Stand still. Absorb it, learn how it feels. Your new friends will be happy for you, glad to help. You can do it. You already got this far.

Your part in the Uranus Aries/Pluto Capricorn Square through Mar 2015: Pluto is in your sign. It’s on a 248 year cycle, so very few people have Pluto in their sign in a lifetime. Pluto can take all your money, your life, your mate, or it can empower you to wealth, clean healthy living, with a super partner! It is the Planet of cleaning and clearing. It’s more impatient than you have ever known, but, let’s not be staid and compound the old errors! Make some new ones and clean up the mess! At least it’s enlivening and maybe even a little entertaining! Change and awakening gets your blood going! Uranus rules groups or loners, and Aries is independent. Prolly gonna be some new ways to use that computer too.

Adam Lanza and Us

Terribly sad, horrified.  You have likely heard by now of Adam Lanza’s assault.  He shot 20 children, 6 adults – including his Mother, and himself.  There is no greater sorrow than losing your children.  Important matters raised are gun control, mental illness and its care, communications and intervention, our personal responsibility.  Astrologically, we have been having a difficult aspect related to this kind of event, Uranus square Pluto, since 2010, that continues through March 2015.  There are uncomfortable things we must learn about and take care of.  Especially at this time before the Mayan Alignment Portal, Christmas and New Year, this event is such a reminder. Let there be Peace on Earth, and let it begin with Me.

First, here is Adam Lanza’s birth chart.

We don’t have a birth time for Adam,
so this is a Sun on the Ascendant, Solar Houses chart.
The chart is calculated for Noon to get median positions for the Planets.

Adam has what the Magi astrologers call a ‘Flying Eagle’ symmetrical formation – from Jupiter, it links to a Grand Earth Trine to the Moon and Sun (the blue triangle).  The Flying Eagle starts there at the bottom of the chart, the short green line, the two blue lines and two purple lines extending upward into the chart, they are linked by the red line, a square between the North Node and Mercury.  This aspect pattern has mixed effects.  The trines, Jupiter to North Node, and Chiron to Mercury, bring blessings of the ability to learn.  Yet the inconjuncts, the purple lines, Jupiter to Mercury, and Chiron to the North Node, bring stresses and adjustments, an unsurety of where you stand, always having to be on your toes.

The Grand Trine  In this case, Jupiter in Virgo can be hugely self-critical, the Moon in Capricorn can be susceptible to emotional depression.  It is thought not to be empathetic, and cold to receiving nurturing, or thinks their Mother is cold.  Sun in Taurus dislikes being pushed or disturbed, so it can be a closed system.  Jupiter in Virgo can also be well studied, so deems itself superior.  What could anyone else say to help, yet there is pain.  Mercury and Venus in Aries need to be independent, so again, tough to reach this person.

There are three seriously difficult aspects.  They are of a type that I would not recommend marriage with this person, likely the person would never marry.

1. Sun square Chiron in Sun’s sign Leo – possible unhappy marriage, difficulties with sense of personal woundedness.
2. Venus square his Uranus conjunct Neptune exact at 18 degrees – with Uranus, unstable, needs for freedom, especially with Venus in Aries of independence, not a natural togetherness placement for Venus.  With Neptune, possible overwhelming, even addictive fears, real or imagined, triggering anger.  Mercury in Aries can have a hair trigger temper, completely embarrassing to Capricorn Moon, and to Pluto in its own sign Scorpio, that doesn’t like to show its hand.   With Saturn in Aquarius closely related to the pattern at 17 degrees, feelings of being trapped, not just by others, but by oneself.
3. Saturn square Pluto – One of the most difficult aspects for anyone.  At worst, there can be sexual abuse, a deep sense of impotency, hatreds.  With Mars, even though in gentle Pisces, it is still a planet of anger, action and guns.  It’s trine with Pluto, extremes and death, the anger came out in a lethal tsunami.

Moon of Mother in Capricorn, and Saturn of Father in Aquarius, there were likely feelings of super controlling on one hand, abandonment on the other, from both parents.  So all alone.

Many times I find a major event happens just after triggering planets activate the points.  The Moon has just activated the Jupiter Yod with Saturn and Pluto.  Jupiter maximizes principles a person has, Saturn brings down the hammers, Pluto goes to extremes of retribution, even Death.  The Capricorn Moon, emotions, just crossed over Pluto, perhaps an extreme of depression, that Capricorn is susceptible to.  The Moon had also triggered the Uranus square Pluto, erratic, extreme ups and downs.  When Uranus isn’t genius, it can be considered a loner, sometimes insane.

Mercury and Jupiter are opposite, exaggerating disassociated thinking. They are also in each other’s signs, which may have the effect of merging too many thoughts, Jupiter in Gemini, trillions, and Mercury in Sagittarius, hard to focus, won’t stop. Overwhelmed.

The chart Ascendant is at a degree of ending, 29 degrees, Capricorn. What was done, was done. Abrupt, concise, no fixing it.

Looking at planets in close active degree connections with each other, there are several potent activators.

Transiting planets Uranus and Pluto are strongly likely activating Adam’s Moon and are activating Adam’s Mercury.  Moon is emotional and Mercury is logical.  They are likely at odds in his birth chart, one could be cold and calculating, the other hot, maybe angry, definitely impetuous!

Uranus and Mercury were both at the degree of Adam’s Jupiter, both were challenging his principles, bringing criticism of himself, him of others, to the fore.

Uranus conjunct Adam’s Mercury in Aries, at the SAME DEGREE! Totally erratic radical angry thinking, wanting to shock! This would only happen once every 84 years, for some people not in their lifetime!

It is likely that the transiting Moon in Capricorn, conjunct Adam’s natal Moon in Capricorn was the trigger of the event.  The Moon is illogical, Lunar, hence, lunacy.  In Capricorn, feelings can be internalized to the point of implosion, a breaking point.  It feels trapped, nowhere to go, no one to listen, to understand.  It feels failed, and is shamed beyond understanding.  They say depression is anger turned inward.  There can come a point when it all doesn’t fit anymore.  If the ingrained chronic condition is to conceal forbidden feelings, it can go unconscious, just loses it.  I don’t know if you can imagine what pain this might be.  The Moon had just crossed Pluto, planet of extremes and intensity, and Death.

If any of you have these planetary placements, PLEASE, do not think that these are the only expressions of their energy.  Many of us have difficult aspects, and we live well with them everyday, learning, growing, yes, some errors.  If you do think you could use some help, confide with someone you trust, who is experienced with life, who is encouraging and celebrates you!

If you have children, please discuss school security measures.  Most importantly, let them talk, lovingly assure them, help them feel safe.  Know they will regress a bit if they are scared.  Give, let, the time it takes.  Know who your children are with.  If you have doubts, err on the side of protection.

May I encourage you all to BE with young people? Don’t let them be alone, especially the quiet or intimidating ones.  Don’t let them be alone after school.  Join after school programs.  Spend time with them doing good things they enjoy to build their confidence.  Give them a safe place, to be in, to talk, be heard without judgment.  Assure their fears.  Tell them out loud what you love about them.  Every day.  Art, sports, nature, are a few ways to engage them.  If you don’t know how to do these things, learn yourself.  Take a parenting class, communications workshop.  If either you or your beloved children need counseling, get it, for BOTH of you.  It takes mutual understanding, no blame.  See your priest, pastor, rabbi.  Whatever it takes.  Gather your courage and love; it will be worth the reward.
