Aries is the ram and lamb; Taurus is the bull, cattle for meat, cows for milk.  Gemini is the first ‘human’ sign, the Twins, an air sign ruling the lungs, our very breath of life, the same breath we use to communicate the Word.  Gemini is also the hands we reach out with to touch heal one another, a handshake, an honoring acknowledgement.  Without communication we wither.  Feeling unheard, unaccepted, so alone, we can just die.  At the least, we stop talking.

In some ways we are all ‘Another yourself.’  We all have all the signs, planets and houses.  There is a harmonic, an understanding, if we know where to look for it.  I believe it is true that Souls are at different levels, making communications impossible if the gap is too large, yet the harmonic is still there.  One of the two can see it, perhaps lay a path of opportunity.  I believe sometimes spirits can be so broken as to be irreparable.  A seasoned teacher/healer learns when to let go and move on to help who can be helped.  We are called because we sense the harmonic, a place in our self that needed a similar healing, even just a simple recognition of suffering, that makes us yearn to put in a seed of change, a comforting touch.  Such it is when we perceive ‘I am another yourself.’

Chatting  you up is often so not casual or frivolous as many think.  It’s a fine diversion, an invitation to change your focus, a time placeholder until your thoughts get in order.  It’s often quite calming.

Geminis are fabulous at keeping us informed moment to moment, current affairs right here in the ‘hood!  Magazines, blogs, the news, newsletters, the letter from your GrandMa, over your fence to the neighbors,  coupons in the mail, your local errands!  Get tickets for two!

Sibs, of course.  Another form of ‘twins’ ‘cause they are in your tribe.  Even though they don’t agree with you, they came from where you came from, and they ‘get’ it.

Sports involving twosomes – tennis is a favorite, an on your feet whole body exchange.  Just like a twin, you must mirror, can even anticipate, the other’s action to do well in the game.  Twins in practice!

Pets come in twosomes – they need someone of their kind to talk/play with, to fully grow.

Contracts are one of Gemini’s specialties.  And calligraphy.  Might as well pretty it up, written words flow just like a living voice!

Wherever Gemini is, there will be curiosity and change as ideas are explored!  Diversity is their gift, adaptability their Ace!  Offer your Gemini children many
opportunities to strengthen their mind muscle to make good choices!  They are not your clone, their planets have moved further ahead than where yours were when you were born, but they still have all those same signs, planets and houses, just in different places.  That crosses all generations.  Take special time with them to understand, for they are the latest version of another yourself.

On another note, how Gemini can a day get?!

Last night, May 19, I went to see the Premiere of Identical, a movie about identical twin boys, one sweet spirited, the other ‘evil’ – a killer who kills to ‘protect’ his twin.  Earlier in the day I had a client who has recently had a facelift.  Isn’t she still ‘identical’ to herself?  Yet, she is ‘facing’ a difficult family situation where she is about to set lifelong needed boundaries, is putting a new ‘face’ on her affairs in other realms of her life as well, including doing some remodeling!  Got me to thinking.  Gemini, to its great credit and advantage, is two-faced, two people, male/female.  Gemini has double the options, and keeps multiplying!  We can be face to face, face off, or have your back, eyes in the back of your head, aware of the many facets of a situation!

Gemini Donald Trump

Gemini, June 14, 1946, Donald Trump, has been in the news lately as a presidential candidate who dropped out!  Trump is a TV Celebrity, real estate mogul.  Bill Gates is at $56B, Warren Buffett at $50B, DT a mere $2.7B per Forbes!  The announcement occurred with Jupiter square his natal Venus, Sun moving in to square his Mars, Chiron with Mars moving in to Yod his natal Neptune, hence the mysteries regarding his dealings, and a lost dream.  Trump has a mixed financial reputation as does June 5, 1951 Suze Orman, another famous Gemini in the money world.

In response to the recent sensational articles about your possibly being a different sign, for example the Fox News article, let me tell you, you may be and always have been, and you are still what you always were!  Here’s how it goes….

Circles within Circles, Many Layers

There are TWO astrological systems.

One is based on the seasons, earth centered, what we predominantly use in the Western world today, called Tropical (Tropic of Cancer, Capricorn).  The other is based on constellations, stars, and is called Sidereal, primarily used in Eastern cultures.  Some feel seasonal Tropical astrology rules more mundane earthly matters and Sidereal is more spiritually oriented.  Both are correct working systems and describe the same things in the sky, just called by different names, in different terms.

Sometimes they correspond exactly!  As stated at WikipediA, here are the technical details that make it so – ‘As the Earth spins on its axis, it “wobbles” like a top, causing the vernal equinox to move gradually backwards against the star background, (a phenomenon known as the Precession of the equinoxes) at a rate of about 30 degrees (one Zodiacal sign length) every 2,160 years. Thus the two zodiacs would be aligned only once every 26,000 years and were aligned about 2,000 years ago when the zodiac was originally established.’  Because astronomers study stars, they agree with Siderealists; we are that sign.  So, there are two different systems, one astronomical, one seasonal, both astrological.  At this time, there is a 25.5 degree variance, that’s why most people are one sign (a ‘month’) off whichever system you prefer to use.  For example, a Leo in Tropical may be a Cancer in Sidereal.  In my case, I am a Leo in both systems since I was born in late Tropical Leo.  But other planets in my chart do change ‘signs.’  This is nothing new, it has always been this way, but from time to time, someone thinks they have made a great discovery!  And it makes provocative news!

Since astrology is based on observational relationships, a lot of the descriptions in one system are like the descriptions of the other – ie Sidereal Cancer is described as a lot like Tropical Leo.  Makes sense since they are describing the same thing in the heavens, the same time of year the Sun passes through that constellation, same kind of weather for the farmer’s crops, how much clothes you wear.  Personally, I don’t care what you call them, or what system you use, as long as you do it well.  In time, research will level the playing field.  Now that we are recording birth times, research can be more comprehensive, factors can be isolated for accuracy of results.

At one time there were as many as 18 signs in use, and at another as few as 6, with other variations in between.  Dividing the sky and the year is an arbitrary thing. Different cultures through time have used entirely different stars in totally different ‘constellations.’  We use the ones used by the Greeks and Romans. And since they were established, about 2000 years ago, stars have moved!  What we see in the sky now is not the same as what they saw!  In the recent articles, some are suggesting we add a 13th sign, Ophiuchus (Oh-fee-YOU-cuss), the snake holder – a constellation that has always been there, of course!  It’s also called Serpentarius – does that remind you of Scorpio (associated with snakes) and Sagittarius?  It would be between them!  See the proposed calendar dates.  Why, why not?  It’s so much fun to tinker with things!  To have 12 signs was chosen to  work well with our 12 months calendar even though they don’t correspond by dates.  It would be so cool if they did, don’t you think?!

In addition to astronomy, mathematics plays a big part in how astrologers ‘divide’ the sky.  For a detailed historical accounting of the development of mathematics correlated with astronomy/astrology, of chart division, read R W Holden’s Elements of House Division, if you can locate one.

Some people swear by one or the other system, Tropical, Sidereal; some use both and feel each one works better for particular things.  If you have time, check it out!  Most Westerners have their Tropical charts.  If you want, I would be honored to do your Sidereal chart, only $5.  I don’t to the interpretation, but you can enjoy pursuing it on your own once you have your chart!  I use the Fagan-Allen version, but can do Lahiri, DeLuce, Raman, Krishnamurti, Usha-Shashi, Djwhal Kuhl, Sri Yukteswar, JN Bhasin, Larry Ely, Takra I or II, Sundara Rajan, or Shill Pond versions!  You mean there are variations on the variations?!  But of course!

I love it how people, who don’t believe in signs, are defending their signs, saying it’s really them, and they don’t want to change to that other sign, yuk!  That’s pretty funny, and totally endearing!  What’s cool is they really do ‘know’ themselves.

Stay true!

July 30 Mars in Libra joins the T Square at the Saturn point,
July 31 Mars conjuncts Saturn! (See Saturn Libra T Square)

Mars might just be the one to tip the scales!  Saturn can be hesitant, but Mars ain’t waitin’!

Libra - Shiva & Shakti!

Only every two years does Mars go through Libra, the sign of relationships, balance, fairness, negotiations, business partnerships, separations, cross cultural connections, fine arts.  It’s a challenge because Mars’s natural sign is Aries, the opposite sign of Libra!  Mars is masculine, the independent warrior; Libra is ruled by Venus, feminine grace and sharing.  And, Libra is actually also masculine, being air sign!  Integration of our opposite selves, working well together, are acquired talents, challenges worth the learning.  They are tenets of an enriched whole life, comprehensive in scope!

Now, with Mars not only in Libra, but with exacting Saturn, seeking updates and corrections, lazy mediocre relationships just don’t get the job done, especially if you are the one who has been being crazy!  Kick it up!  Get up your courage and go!  Sexual respect goes a long way.  Take your time, but let it be known you have the passion.  Try something spicy and new!  Show off a bit, and if you fall, laugh together, let it be good fun!  Reasonably serious is good, too serious is tedious.

Loyal too long?!  Apply for new work!  Great time to start a dance/exercise class.  Apply for art school, a negotiations workshop.

Lead the way for a day, see how that works, feels.  Act equal, like you are at that level too, or we are all in this together, equal in spirit!  If you are a sheep, not a ram, fine.  Be good at it.  Make your time and actions count.  If you are a ram, find your way through  – walk the wire, find the key, climb other the wall, lower your head and butt!  Look for the weak spots, strengthen the strong areas for the good.

Resentments and authority struggles, rebelliousness, are good signs of healthy growing, a spiritual protest!  Don’t ignore it!  Take a good look whether it is yours or theirs, or both.  What do you each have to offer?  How can it become sharing?  What about that tone of voice or posturing?  Is parting ways a good solution?  Honor to all?

This is a good time to see what has been holding you back from your opportunities.  Why do you hesitate?  Is that good to know?  What can you do?  Is it ok just the way it is?

Stand right on top of that mountain for a better view!
