American Red Cross founder, Swiss Jean-Henri Dunant, was awarded the first Nobel Peace Prize in 1901.

ARIES is the first sign of Astrology’s first cross of the 3 Grand Crosses of Matter. Its cross is the Cardinal, as in the red bird, Cross. It’s four points are first, itself, Aries, Mars, the Warrior, Protector, Rescuer, Initiator. Opposite is Libra, Venus, the Beloved, partnerships of all kinds, equality, balance, respect, fairness both in beauty and in Spirit. The vertical axis is of Cancer, Moon, at the South, warm at home’s hearth, Mom’s nurturing. Opposite is Capricorn, Saturn, of the North, hard at work out in the world, building, fortifying, at times scrabbling for a toehold, maintaining.

The symbol of the American Red Cross, is red on white, Aries’s two colors! It was founded in Switzerland, a politically neutral country, for humanitarian purposes, to help soldiers. It was brought to the United States by Clara Barton after the Civil War. The symbol was chosen in gratitude to the Swiss founder, Jean Henri Dunant, using the reversed colors of their flag.

The Cardinal Cross is truly a cross of Matter. Without life, it doesn’t matter. Aries gives us that option for life and inspiration. Once gathered up, we can go home, be cared for, be loved, find productive outlet for our creative ability. Bravery and physical prowess are standard equipment for Aries. Standing up to a bully, in behalf of the underdog, when the odds are stacked pretty high, is merely a challenge. They wink at you over their shoulder as they lean right into the fray! Follow tight through the crowd, you’ll make it to the other side, or be first in line at the grocery store!

Ok, so not all Aries are that gallant. In fact there are some complaints they only think of themselves. And that may be true. Yet, we can learn to balance ourselves more appropriately. Take courage, say NO once in awhile. Say YES when you want it. Stand up. You can. Even if you fumble or are wrong. You can sort things out. At least you got started. Do you need to apologize? Would your Aries friend? Probably not. Should you apologize for just being yourself? Probably not.

In this time of needing great courage, stay steady in the Light. If you need help, be wise, ask for it. If you can give help, do it the ways you have that are so special to give, exactly as you can. I wish you and your loved ones the very best, with every breath.

In Dedication, and in Gratitude, to all those in Japan who are risking their lives to make things safe for us. They are Angels of a kind, heroes and heroines for sure.

Dragon with Merlin (BBC)

It starts with Moon conjunct Jupiter at 12.16 PM, on through the afternoon and evening, ending with Mars conjunct Pluto 8.13 PM!  Conjunctions, when planets are very near each other, or exactly at the same place, are potent mergers!  Two for the price of one, two ways to see or act on a topic, combining talents!

The Moon in Pisces is first with optimistic Jupiter, truth teller, then conjuncts Uranus, which throws it all to the winds in the interest of discovery, new friendships, flying, perhaps amazing computer connections!  Mother Moon lends her sweet nurturing, brings in our feminine gentleness, tender feelings, responses to what is needed.

In Pisces, is a profound sensitivity, psychic awareness, sees the whole, not just oneself or one’s family or culture, but all.  An incredible fusion can occur; words of long awaited truth can bubble up. With a letting go of fear that once held all prisoner, now freed, the invisible bonds are unraveled, smooth as a snake skin!  Though that magician sees hidden flaws, what we are ‘blind’ or ‘deaf’ about, it also sees all that is glorious, the true art and beauty of what our Souls can do!  It can walk with God.

This opening is followed by Mercury, of mind, logic, words, first conjunct Pluto, then Mars, both fighters, defenders!  Though Pluto doesn’t give up confidentiality, secrets, easily, this time, with Mercury’s logic, keeping things more neutral, the mighty pen may tell secrets, make the revelation, that can bring action to save the day!

Pluto faces death itself, our psychological Dragon within; Mars, sword in hand, Goliath-like courageously fights the Dragon you can see, the one that metaphorically breathes fire on your village.  In finale, Mars conjuncts Pluto, external action merges with internal desire, hopefully, for perfect satisfaction!  It’s been building up all week intensely, and will build all that day!

This formidable Mercury, Pluto, Mars combination will be in the Builder sign Capricorn.  Architects of homes and Spirit, building our psyche from within, making beauty on our land, in our homes, Capricorns look for solidarity.  They are the archaeologists of our future!  Great walls of needed protection, rocks as place holders and anchors, even the gravestones of our ancestors, are parts of their contributions to the power of our memory banks that save us from previous mistakes, serve as foundation for future growth.

Have a good talk with your dragon that lives in you!  Get more acquainted with your power.  Know that fire is Light, fire can burn away the dross, clear your Path, light the way.  What will you do the 13th that will make a difference, be a Gift you are happy to give?!

Dec 13 is also the last day of, the culmination of, the Sagittarius Bowl, and is happening while Mercury is Retrograde in Capricorn!  Keep the Mercury Retrograde factor firmly in mind.   Our next Bowl, in Capricorn, the Third Bowl of 4, will be Dec 28 to Jan 10, 2011.  Stay tuned….
